In 2015, a group of shelter volunteers identified a need to provide additional support. Inspired by their volunteer experiences, they established a nonprofit organization. Partners in Animal Care was founded in 2016, and the Board of Directors started developing the organization in 2017.
Today, our board consists of passionate animal lovers from the Upstate who volunteer their time to support the shelter. Many also volunteer at the shelter on Furman Hall Road.

We bridge the gap between need and resources. While the shelter has achieved remarkable progress toward a 90%+ live-release rate, sustaining life-saving programs requires ongoing support. Every day, they care for animals who have faced abuse, neglect, or serious medical challenges.
Our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status unlocks funding opportunities unavailable to municipal shelters, multiplying your impact. All contributions are tax-deductible, making your generosity work harder for both you and the animals.

At an open-admission shelter, every animal has value—regardless of age, health, or background. Greenville Animal Care welcome them all: senior pets who need extra care, energetic puppies ready for adventure, and everyone in between.
Their doors stay open for animals whose families face tough situations—job loss, military deployment, or other life changes that make pet ownership impossible. They also provide safe haven for those who've experienced neglect or abandonment.
Each animal brings their own story, and we're committed to writing a better next chapter.
